Classic Cocktails Are Back Again

Retro staples tend to find their way back into the modern spotlight, and there’s nothing wrong with that; there’s a reason they were popular in the first place. Classic cocktails make for an example of older styles pervading modern culture. Here is a look at some of the classic cocktails that have come back again.

Old Fashioned

What says classic cocktail like an Old Fashioned? This is one truly classic drink that has been around for hundreds of years, and it’s still just as enjoyable today. Bourbon is the alcoholic component of the drink, but it’s not added until the end. First, you’ll mix a sugar cube with bitters and a dash of water in a glass. If the sugar was cubed, crush it with a spoon. Rotate the glass and place an ice cube inside, and then add the magic ingredient: Bourbon.

Manhattan

Just like the Old Fashioned, it’s the type of whiskey that gives a Manhattan its kick; although there are plenty of options for the type of whiskey, many use bourbon or rye. It’s another simple, classic drink that many still find is their drink of choice. To make things even simpler, this drink is two-thirds ice. Other than that, all you need is vermouth, bitters, and a cherry to crush.

Japanese Cocktail

Although it’s unclear as to what its name means, the Japanese Cocktail is another easy old favorite. With half an ounce of orgeat syrup, two ounces of cognac, and a dash or two of Angostura bitters in a shaker, all you need is a lemon peel for garnish.
